Peahens For Sale
India Blue Peafowl Juvenile Pair
The India Blue Peafowl, native to the forests and plains of Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan, is also known as the Blue or Common peahens for sale. While often called “peacocks,” this term technically refers only to the males, with females being “peahens” and the species collectively called “peafowl.” As India’s national bird, the India Blue Peafowl is a resilient species that thrives in aviary settings, provided it has ample space to roam and, ideally, a free-range environment. These birds are known for their vibrant displays and vocal nature, making spacious aviaries with bushes and trees ideal for their natural roosting behavior.
India Blue Peafowl are shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express and usually arrive at your local post office within 1-2 days. Please note that peafowl are shipped only and are not available for pickup. All juvenile peafowl are DNA sexed, and shipping is free.
Appearance: Male India Blue Peafowl are renowned for their striking plumage, featuring long, colorful tail feathers and a vibrant blue-green neck and body. Females, while less colorful, display a mix of white, brown, green, gray, and blue plumage with a shorter tail. Males generally weigh between 9 and 13 pounds, while females range from 6 to 9 pounds as adults.
Diet: India Blue Peafowl are versatile eaters, consuming insects, seeds, grains, berries, and fruits. To maintain a balanced diet, they should also be provided with standard game bird feed and a fresh water source.
Breeding and Lifespan: Breeding season for India Blue Peafowl spans March through July, with males reaching full maturity around their third year, though some may be ready by age two. Females typically lay 4 to 8 light brown eggs per clutch, with up to three clutches possible in a breeding season. The incubation period is approximately 28 days. In captivity, these birds can live up to 40-50 years.
