Lady Gouldian Finches

The Lady Gouldian Finches (Erythrura gouldiae), also known as the rainbow finch, is a stunningly colorful passerine bird native to Australia. These small birds are vibrant, featuring black, green, yellow, and red markings. While both sexes are brightly colored, females are typically less vivid. They thrive in aviary settings and prefer spacious, planted gardens.

These finches nest in tree holes, typically near water, and breed at the start of the dry season when food is abundant. The male performs a captivating courtship dance to attract a mate. After laying 4–8 eggs, both parents share in nurturing their young, which fledge at 19-23 days and become independent by 40 days.
